Local Mission Day

 

A member of our church brings some enjoyment to residents at Hawthorn Hill during a mission day in early March.  Hawthorn Hill provides free, temporary, emergency shelter and services for homeless mothers and their children.  Look for opportunities to participate in local and out-of-state mission service at First Church.

Cityview 2012 Best Places to Worship

The readers of Cityview have voted First Church as one of the three best places to worship in Des Moines.   We are one of two runners up to the winner.  We are humbled, and we are grateful to all the volunteers and staff who make our worship inviting to visitors and inspiring for all.  Thanks to the Cityview readers for this recognition.

New Members

Pastor Kevin LaGree (left) welcomes new members Tammy Mason, Kacey Burman, and Ken Henss who joined First Church on Sunday, February 19.  We welcome these disciples of Jesus Christ into our community of people seeking to put into practice the extraordinary love of God.

 

Church Office Hours

Starting Tuesday, February 21, the church office will be open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to noon.

Think Summer

A group from First Church will go to the Iowa Cubs game against Round Rock on Sunday, July 24, at 1:05 p.m.  We want to order group tickets, so we need to know now how many people might have an interest in joining us.  Call the church office (244-6209) if you'd like to go out to the ballpark on a summer's afternoon.
